Top Packaging Tips
We do our best to make sure that our customers’ parcels are transported safely and securely to their chosen destination, it’s important that the contents are packed carefully.
-
Check your parcel doesn’t exceed the maximum dimensions for our service (60x50x50cm), and doesn’t exceed 10kg in weight (find out more about parcel dimensions here)
-
Wrap each item within a parcel individually, preferably with bubble-wrap. Add a thick layer of packaging material (polystyrene or foam) on each side of the box. Your item(s) must be securely protected so they do not move around or touch any side of the box to best protect the contents.
-
If you are reusing heavy plastic bags from an online retailer, it's best to turn them inside out. Black bin-liners and thin polythene, standard shopping bags should not be used, even as a covering for a box as they can rip easily and the label may get torn off as a result.
-
Before you secure the lid on the box with heavy duty tape, place a sheet of paper with your address on top of your item(s). This is in case the label should get damaged and we need to know where to return the parcel.
-
Do not use Sellotape as it has limited strength and is not waterproof. Heavy duty tape is reinforced and waterproof. Do not cover the barcode with any tape. You can also secure the edges of the box with a layer of heavy duty tape for added strength.
-
If your box has handles, make sure these are strong enough to hold the weight – if you don’t think they are, seal them off. Also, clearly mark the box as a heavy parcel – doing so will make sure the carrier and your parcel’s recipient aren’t caught out by the weight.
