Spotlight on Jordan Holden
With nearly 10,000 colleagues across the country, there is a wide variety of roles and careers available at Yodel, with different skills and experience and plenty of opportunity to develop and grow. Compliance Manager, Jordan Holden, did just that and we spoke to her about her transition from a member of our Recruitment team to ensuring our fresh food clients were packaging and sending their parcels in the best possible way.
“I started with Yodel in June 2017 so will be celebrating 6 years with the company at the end of the month. I was originally attracted to Yodel as I had been working in a recruitment agency and wanted to move inhouse. Yodel sounded progressive and were making some exciting changes so I accepted the role of Resourcing Advisor. I was in the team for 5 and a half years and I was very lucky to work within an amazing bunch of people; a team that really pulled together and helped each other out.
I loved that in recruitment I had a direct impact on the business, bringing new faces and experience into the company, and I loved nothing more than to see people progress their career knowing I had played a small part in putting them forward for their first role with Yodel.
I recruited for all areas of the business before moving into the team leader position, so as a people person I really enjoyed the opportunity to speak with so many different people and departments within Yodel. However, when the recruitment team were asked to find the perfect candidate for the role of Compliance Manager, it sounded like the perfect new challenge, within a company I love working for and had built up a strong knowledge of.
The main responsibilities of my role are looking at the performance and compliance of the Fresh Food service within the network. That means working closely with our local depots and national hubs to drive best practice, highlight issues and look for further opportunities and solutions to improve. I also play a huge part in strengthening our client relationship.
During December 2022 I volunteered to support our operations colleagues and loved seeing and hearing about the projects the team got involved with and really enjoyed being a part of the team and that pushed me to apply for the Compliance Manager role. So far, it has been really interesting, and I have enjoyed being out and about visiting many of our local depots and our three national hubs, as well as meeting with the main fresh food clients. There is so much to learn, there are so many operational processes to adhere to ensure a parcel is delivered in the best possible condition, and so many stakeholders but I am really enjoying it. It’s great being able to use the skills from my time in recruitment, such as managing stakeholder relationships, to this role. Also, being a part of the organisation for so long has really helped me to understand the operational complexities and the reasons why we have processes in place – it’s really exciting to be involved in the day to day of the activities I used to talk applicants through.
I also love how varied the role is and the daily and weekly challenges it presents. Every week is different and I’m so lucky to have the chance to get out and meet so many of our amazing people across the country and see first-hand what goes on behind the scenes for a successful parcel delivery.
This inspires me to achieve my goal to continuously improve and enhance our Fresh Food service, which I hope will then impact the wider network, as well as drive performance and best practice. It’s exciting to think of the broader impact my role can make.
