Yodel colleagues show support for Pontypridd Foodbank with generous donation
Colleagues at parcel carrier Yodel’s Nantgarw depot have donated over a tonne of food to the Pontypridd Foodbank in South Wales.
The Pontypridd Foodbank, located at the Riverside Day Centre, is part of The Trussell Trusts UK, which has a wide network of foodbanks throughout the country and has been operating for over 25 years. With over 40 volunteers, they have supplied food for 3,187 adults and 1,330 children this year. The donation from Yodel will help the volunteers over the Christmas season.
Mandy Haydon-Hall, Manager of the Pontypridd Foodbank, said: “We work hard to provide essential food and household items to those in need and we are able to continue doing so thanks to the support of our volunteers and local businesses. Now more than ever, foodbanks are becoming so important to communities, this donation from Yodel will make a real impact for families who are struggling with the current cost-of-living crisis.”
In addition to this generous donation, Yodel also intends to support the local community further with its recruitment of 62 new colleagues at its Nantgarw site. This latest drive comes as the business prepares for what is expected to be a busy festive period. Yodel's Nantgarw depot is a key site in its nationwide network, handling millions of parcels every year and serving customers across Cardiff.
Mike Hancox, CEO at Yodel commented: “As the cost-of-living crisis continues and a growing number of people are struggling to provide for their families, we wanted to give back to the local community and help those who need it most.”
“The current recruitment drive across South Wales is part of our commitment to creating local jobs and supporting families in the area.”
