Yodel colleague achieves qualification in transport management
Martin Heathcote, Transport Team Manager at independent carrier Yodel’s sort centre in Oldham has successfully completed his Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) licence.
Having worked at Yodel for 21 years, Martin is an experienced team manager and the CPC Licence will allow him to progress further as he looks towards the future. His next aim is to achieve his North East Operators Licence and take on the responsibility of managing the vehicles at Yodel’s Leeds depot. Martin has risen through the ranks at Yodel, and started out as a warehouse operative at the business.
The CPC is a legal requirement of the operator licensing system for both standard national and international licences, in a business that operates more than one category C or category D vehicle.
Martin Heathcote, Transport Team Manager at Yodel said: “I’m very proud to have completed my CPC licence and I’m grateful to Yodel for the opportunity to be able to progress in my career with this qualification. I haven’t sat in a classroom since college so to do that for eight hours a day and then get homework too was definitely a shock to the system, but it’s all been worth it in the end.”
Ryan Kelly, Regional Transport Manager at Yodel said: “This is a fantastic achievement for one of our talented team managers. The CPC licence will allow Martin to continue his journey at Yodel which has already seen him progress from warehouse operative through to his current position. This is just one example of how we look to develop, encourage and challenge our colleagues here at Yodel.”
