Yodel’s colleagues gather donations for local foodbanks

Across all of our sites, Yodel colleagues have gone above and beyond to support those less fortunate during what can be a difficult time of year for some.

Collections were made at sites across the country; from Leeds to Lincoln, Carlisle to Wrexham, and Gateshead to nearby Stockton. Our customer delivery depots have generously been collecting and donating food, household goods and anything else needed to their local community foodbanks.

David Timney, Depot Manager at our Stockton site, where colleagues gathered over £150 worth of food and household goods for Middlesbrough foodbank, said ‘Gathering all the donations was a team effort, designed to support those in need in the wider community of Middlesbrough’.

David Stewart, our Depot Manager in Sunderland, where the team donated over £200 worth of goods, commented ‘It has been rewarding to see all the colleagues getting involved in our appeal - the response has been amazing. Around this time of year, the Yodel family have come together to help people less fortunate than ourselves. We hope that our efforts will make a difference to the local community, and we look forward to working with the foodbank again in the future.'

But our colleagues didn’t stop at just foodbanks. In Willenhall, for the second year running, the team based in our national depot collected money and toys to be given as gifts to children who were spending their festive period in Birmingham’s Children Hospital as well as Acorns Hospice.

Over at our Selby site, selection boxes were given to the local primary school, ensuring all children in the local community received a chocolate surprise for Christmas.

Our support functions office based in Liverpool chose two charities to support in the weeks leading up to Christmas. North Liverpool Foodbank and The Whitechapel Centre were both selected as their charity of choice with food, clothes, Christmas gifts and practical items needed by the vulnerable during the cold, winter months donated.

We are extremely proud of our colleagues and their generous efforts over the past few weeks and beyond. Yodel colleagues will continue to collect, donate and support local charities throughout the year.
