Yodel employees to cycle 85 miles for charity in memory of colleague
Tribute bike ride to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support will start in Bath this weekend and finish in Reading.
A local man who passed away from cancer in May this year is to be remembered by his colleagues in a charity bike ride from Bath to Reading this weekend [27-28 September].
Stephen Knowles, from Eastville, Bath, was employed as a Divisional Manager at the Reading site of UK's leading independent parcel carrier, Yodel, when he sadly died, aged just 57. Stephen travelled from Bath to Reading every day to work before being diagnosed with cancer. Days before his passing, his colleagues announced that they would be organising a charity cycle ride on that route to raise money for his chosen charity, Macmillan Cancer Support.
The group cycle ride will start at 10am from Eastville in Bath and there will be 20 Yodel colleagues and 15 of Stephen's family and friends taking part. The 35 strong team will cycle 55 miles to Newbury, carrying out the final 30 miles to Reading the following day.
Stephen Knowles' wife, Marlyse, said, "Stephen loved cycling. He knew that this event would take place and it made him smile to think of his colleagues completing such a long ride.
The support we as a family have had from Yodel has been outstanding and it is lovely to see friends and relatives joining in to raise money for such an important cause. My thanks to everybody".
The team has a sponsorship target of £5,000. Donations can be made at https://www.justgiving.com/Yodel-Team/
