Yodel backs Bauer Media's Cash for Kids’ Christmas Appeal
Yodel, the UK’s leading parcel delivery company, has joined forces with its client, Asda, to help Bauer Media’s Cash for Kids charity Christmas Appeal, which delivers presents to disadvantaged children across England, Northern Ireland and Scotland.
Yodel is an essential link for the appeal which runs from 18 November, collecting presents from donors before they are sorted and distributed to sick and underprivileged children at Christmas.
At dedicated collection points in 165 Asda stores, donors leave presents which are then collected by Yodel. These are then delivered to Cash for Kids' sorting centres across the country, where the local social services and other agencies sort them and allocate them to the disadvantaged children in the area. Many of the children are in care homes and refuges and would otherwise not receive a present on Christmas Day.
In 2010 Cash for Kids collected over £3.8 million in toys and cash at Christmas and helped approximately 157,000 children in local communities across the country. The appeal, which started in the North East, has been running for 15 years. This is the second year that Yodel has been involved and the first that it has been the sole delivery partner for the national network.
Yodel Chief Executive Jonathan Smith said, "We are very proud to support Cash for Kids. This is a charity that brings much joy and happiness to hundreds-of-thousands of children at Christmas. I am delighted that Yodel is able to play a role in aiding the distribution of presents for this worthy cause."
