Yodel's Linda Ferguson wins Driver of the Year Award
Yodel driver Linda Ferguson has won the Everywoman Commercial Driver of the Year Award for 2011.The event, held at London's The Savoy Hotel, recognises women who excel in the transport and logistics industry.
Linda works for Yodel, the UK's leading parcel delivery company. She started her career as a delivery driver in 1989 and has been with the same company ever since. Often called in to help cover in the main office, her passion has always been driving. Linda is also involved in training new drivers, as well as covering for Section Managers when necessary.
She has been commended for her ability to go beyond the call of duty in delivering an excellent customer service and regularly travelling to the remotest areas in adverse weather conditions. Dedicated to her life on the road, when a Section Manager's position became available she withdrew her application, opting to remain a delivery driver, cited by her company as 'a woman with a heart for her customers'.
Linda, who works from Yodel's Carlisle Service Centre, was nominated for the Award following the many letters and calls of praise Yodel gets from people who Linda delivers too.
After receiving her award, Linda said: "I love my job. Getting out and about in the Cumbrian countryside; it's the best in the world. And the people are just so friendly. I look forward to delivering to them. They make me feel like a friend coming to visit."
Yodel Chief Executive Jonathan Smith said: "We have some great drivers working for Yodel and Linda is a shining example. She is hard working and dedicated to delivering for her customers. She truly deserves this award."
Linda follows in the footsteps of Vicky Taylor, from Yodel's Preston Service Centre, who won the Award last year.
