Yodel heads the pack in sponsorship of The Tour of Britain
Yodel will help deliver The Tour of Britain, the country’s biggest professional cycle race and largest free-to-watch sporting event, as Official Logistics Partner and Sprint Jersey sponsor.
The highest tier partnership deal between Yodel and The Tour of Britain will see The Tour's Sprints competition branded as the Yodel Sprints Competition, with three Hot Spot Yodel Sprints taking place on each stage of the 2011 race.
As part of the deal, Yodel will also become Official Logistics Partner to The Halfords Tour Series, helping to deliver the unique team-based city-centre cycling series.
Jonathan Smith, CEO of Yodel, said: "Yodel and The Tour of Britain are the perfect match. Both parties are all about speed and team work, relevance at national and local levels, and an all-important green focus. Delivering The Tour of Britain is a huge logistical feat, and we are proud to be playing our part in it this year.
He continued: "Yodel is very excited about this partnership with Britain's biggest bicycle race. As a young brand it will give us the perfect opportunity to make Yodel more widely recognised with both businesses across the country as well as our customers at home. We are sure that many of them will flock to the Yodel Sprints, where some of the most exciting action in The Tour of Britain will unfold."
Commenting on the partnership, Hugh Roberts, Chief Executive for SweetSpot Group, organisers and promoters of The Tour of Britain, said: "This is excellent news for The Tour of Britain and we look forward to Yodel becoming synonymous with the Sprints Jersey at this year's event. I'm sure that cycling fans will be drawn to each of the Yodel Sprints during the tour to witness the action firsthand.
"Yodel saw the benefits of being involved with a world-class sporting event during The Tour of Britain in 2010, so I'm pleased that we could secure an increased involvement. It is very encouraging for us as an organisation to have secured another top tier partner ahead of this year's tour, and this bodes well for what will be another highly successful year for The Tour of Britain."
Yodel joins Tour of Britain Official Charity Partners The Prostate Cancer Charity, which supports the Points Jersey, in taking ownership of one of the race's four leader's jerseys.
The new eye-catching design for the Yodel Sprints Jersey will be unveiled at the National Launch of The Tour of Britain in April, along with other exciting news about the 2011 edition of the UK's biggest free-to-spectate sporting event.
Scotland will be the perfect stage for The Tour of Britain Grand Depart on Sunday 11th September, with full details of the entire race route that will culminate in London on 18th September, to be announced at the national launch in April.
