Prohibited Commodities
Unless otherwise agreed to by Yodel, the following items will not be carried by Yodel:
• Ammunition
• Animals (including birds, fish, insects, larvae, pupae
etc)
• Animal products;
• Antiques and art works
• Apparel and accessories over £250 in value
• Banderols/tax stickers
• Biological substances
• Blank activated credit cards / debit cards / charge cards or
cash dispenser cards and event tickets.)
• Bullion (or any precious metal)
• Cash-like negotiable instruments in bearer form (this would
include but not limited to cash, bank notes, currency, vouchers,
securities, pre-paid phone cards, activated SIM cards and unused
stamps)
• Complete firearms
• Costume jewellery over £250 in value
• Dangerous Goods (these include but are not limited to
lithium batteries,
• Designer clothing
• Dry ice
• Electronic components
• Explosives
• Explosive devices
• Firearm parts
• Flowers and plant products
• Furs and garments trimmed with fur
• Hazardous goods;
• Human remains or ashes;
• Illegal goods (these are goods which are considered illegal
in the origin, the transit points and/or the destination countries
and would include but not be limited to pirated goods, counterfeit
goods and narcotics);
• Imitation (replica) firearms,
• Irreplaceable/ unique items
• Ivory and other banned products
• Jewellery and objects constructed of precious metals and/or
stones
• Loose precious stones (including industrial diamonds)
• Legal drugs and pharmaceutical products
• Medical samples (includes bodily fluids and tissue
samples)
• Micro processors
• Mobile telephones and accessories over £250 in value
• Negotiable instruments in bearer form (this includes but is
not limited to blank cheques
• Non-hazardous liquids
• Perishable items that require a temperature controlled
environment;
• Personal data
• Pornography
• Tobacco
• Toy guns
• UN classified Dangerous Goods and any goods specified as
such under IATA, ADR or IMDG regulations)
• Watches with an individual value over £250
• Weapons or items that could be used as weapons (these
include but are not limited to decorative swords, kitchen knives
etc)
Restricted & Prohibited Items
To comply with strict transport regulations Yodel will not
accept for carriage any Dangerous Goods from any customer who have
not been audited and approved.
Even when approved Yodel will only carry Dangerous Goods in
Limited Quantities and it is the shipper's responsibility to ensure
that each and every consignment is correctly marked, labelled and
the packaging is adequate for the task.
Yodel does expect it's customers who have been audited and
approved to ship Dangerous Goods, must comply with the relevant
Dangerous Goods Regulations that they have been approved for.
Yodel will always act on information supplied by the sender.
Examples of Dangerous Goods are:
- Explosives which include flares, fireworks,
ammunition, detonators
- Gases such as gas cartridges, fire
extinguishers, camping stoves/cookers, fuel cell cartridges, all
aerosols
- Flammable liquids which include petroleum,
model fuel, solvent based paints, paint thinners, adhesives/glues,
perfumes/nail varnish, printing inks, resins
- Flammable solids which includes fire lighters,
matches, magnesium, ammonia based fertilisers
- Oxidising materials and Organic Peroxides
which can include hair dyes, some disinfectants
- Toxic & Infectious materials poisons,
pesticides, biological substances/samples, infectious products,
medical/clinical waste
- Radioactive material
- Corrosives which include acids, some paints,
caustic soda, some oven cleaners & paint remover
- Miscellaneous material which include dry ice,
life saving appliances, all environmentally hazardous material,
genetically modified organisms, some first aid kits, lithium
batteries
Yodel will not ship any consignments marked with any of the
following labels or combination of them

Sending restricted or prohibited goods without obtaining
approval or not complying with the appropriate transport
regulations, may constitute a criminal offence which may result in
prosecution.
Lithium Batteries
Only lithium batteries contained in equipment are acceptable by
Yodel for carriage and must follow a strict packing requirement,
the article:
• containing the batteries must packed in a strong rigid
packaging
• must be secure to prevent any movement, to prevent
accidental activation
• the name and address of the sender must be clearly
legible
Shipments to Offshore Islands in UK
In order to ship Dangerous Goods in Limited Quantities to the
IOW, IOM and any other offshore islands including NI and the Irish
Republic, Yodel expect that shippers are fully familiar with the
IMDG Regulations (International Maritime Dangerous Goods
Regulations).
The shipper is responsible for marking and labelling of these
consignments and for providing a Dangerous Goods Note (DGN) that
must be signed and attached to the package.
Yodel can only act on information provided by the customer and
if discrepancies with regard to the package, marking, labelling or
DGN occur then Yodel must hold the consignment until the error as
been rectified.
Please note: Not all Ferry companies accept dangerous Goods even
when packed as Limited Quantities.
Shipments by Air
Yodel do not ship Dangerous Goods by Air.
